Virtual Radiologic Chairman and CEO Named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2008 Award Winner
Award Recognizes Entrepreneurial Excellence in Technology Category
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn., June 9, 2008 – Virtual Radiologic Corp. (Nasdaq: VRAD), a leading national provider of teleradiology services, announced today that Dr. Sean Casey, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2008 Award in the Technology category in the Upper Midwest regional program.
According to Ernst & Young LLP, the award recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who are building and leading dynamic, growing businesses. Casey was selected by an independent panel of judges and recognized at a gala event in Minneapolis on June 5, 2008.
"This recognition among such esteemed industry peers is truly an honor," said Casey. "Although individualized, this award is a direct reflection on the quality and commitment of our employees and physicians, as well as an acknowledgement to the leadership and vision provided by our Board of Directors."
Recognizing the growing shortage of radiologists and the threat that it posed for patient care, Casey and two other physicians developed Virtual Radiologic’s teleradiology technology that enables diagnostic image interpretations from any location 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Images are routed to a team of more than 115 radiologists around the country according to their schedules and subspecialties.
As an Upper Midwest award winner, Casey is now eligible for consideration for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2008 national program. Award winners in several national categories, as well as the overall national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year award winner, will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, Calif. on Nov. 15, 2008. The awards are the culminating event of the Ernst & Young Strategic Growth Forum, the nation's most prestigious gathering of high-growth, market-leading companies.
